Meet the Band

From the Beginning...

Emerging from the sun-drenched streets of Fall River, Massachusetts, and the wider Southcoast area, Concrete Beach first appeared on the scene as a six-piece collective garage band in 2019. What started as a collective of confident amateurs quickly turned into a band with a serious reputation, releasing our debut EP, Invasion, and gearing up for a 2020 Battle of the Bands competition that was ultimately canceled due to Covid-19.

Undeterred, we pushed forward, filming live sessions and recording a full 14-track album, Give It Time (2022), at Railroad Park Recording in Westport, MA. Our cover song entry for a video competition hosted by the popular reggae band Rebelution was praised by the band, who featured it on their Instagram page on Christmas morning, which gained us significant attention. We went on to book several gigs throughout the Southcoast and in nearby Newport and Providence, Rhode Island, making a name for ourselves and leaving a lasting impression on audiences.

Like many bands, however, we faced the complexities of adulthood, family, and life's demands. After some difficult lineup changes, our group entered a period of transition which settled into its current form as a five-piece with several talented new musicians. The band's focus now is on creating a smoother, more consolidated sound, giving each instrument the space it needs to truly shine.

The heart and soul of the band is its founder, Zachary Paul. For over 20 years, he's been meticulously crafting a sound and nurturing a dream of fronting an original reggae/rock band—a dream that has now become a beautiful reality. As the band's frontman, Zack's expertise as a guitarist is clear with every solo. He uses his deep understanding of musical theory to create intricate chord structures while also carrying the demanding role of lead vocalist. His powerful voice breathes life into the lyrics, setting the perfect stage for the band's message of love and positivity and demonstrating his natural talent as a professional musician.

Laying down a solid groove is Zack's lifelong friend and musical partner, Aaron Capone. With two decades of experience, including studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Aaron is a true professional. He and Zack have been jamming together since their teenage years, and that shared history creates a foundational vibe that is the backbone of the band's sound. His soulful basslines lock right into the pocket, making it impossible not to move to the beat. Aaron's playing is the rhythmic anchor that will have you dancing along with the music.

Then there's rhythm guitarist and songwriter Jared Correia. With an engineer's mind and a musician's soul, Jared is a self-taught force of nature. He picked up the guitar after learning music theory in high school and has been expanding his skills ever since. Jared’s "sticky" licks and knack for composition have become an absolute staple of the band’s sound, cementing his role as a vital part of what makes Concrete Beach's hits so memorable. Jared took a year hiatus for personal conflictions and focusing on the development of his engineering career. He has rejoined the band once again on rhythm guitar.

Finally, adding a truly unique flavor is Nathan Mendonca on the fiddle. A classically trained virtuoso with over two decades of experience, Nathan joined the band on a quest to master improvisation and expand his musical horizons. His addition of the violin to the reggae/rock genre offers a sound rarely heard in mainstream music, catching the ears of fans and sparking curiosity. He proves that a fiddle can fit in perfectly, creating a sound that's just as captivating as the typical horns.

Through a few lineup changes, including the parting of Brendon and Cassandra Borkman, the band has only grown stronger. The group used these transitional periods to refine their sound and elevate their compositions. Today, this band is comprised of four of the original six members, with a few other musicians who have helped sustain us—Corbin Alves, Mike Correia, Roland Furtado, and Jeremy Thorpe—lending their talents along the way.

The Concrete Beach vibe is all about good times, love, and high-energy positivity. And now, we're on the hunt for a long-term, committed percussionist to lay down some serious beats and join our funky family. If you've got the chops and the passion, we want to hear from you.
